Lil' Inker Designs July Blog Hop {Day 1}

Today is such a sunshiny day!  That's because it's time for an awesome release from
This month Laura is featuring some great new designs for all those summery and sunshiny days!
You should have arrived here from the Lil' Inker Designs Blog to start the hop.

I wanted to share my card to show you that now the little picture is complete......we now have SUNS!!!  Oh yes, and they have the SIGNATURE perforations Laura is so well known for!  I think you will agree that these are a must have because they give just that extra little touch!

AmySun

I've paired the Sun die up with the previously released Rainbows and Clouds dies.  I've diecut 2 suns, layered them, and flipped up some of the rays for dimension.  A crochet threaded button tops it off.  My clouds are diecut from the Shimmer paper from PTI.  You may remember a certain card from a few weeks ago that got some attention and I used that same paper here.  :)  My sentiment is one of a bunch of new ones releasing to go with the Sun dies!

Here is a close-up photo to show just the amount of dimension and texture there are to these new dies!

AmySun2

We are releasing the Sun dies as a set (2 dies and sentiments), the dies together, or the dies separate.  This way you can decide to get what you would use but let me tell you that I KNOW you will use them all!  hehe

Now it's time to go visit my very dear friend, Jen Carter to see what creative things she's made!
Remember, there are prizes up for grabs so comment away!
2--$10 store credits will be given away to some lucky people!
{Wishing you sunshine & smiles}

Gallery Idol 2012--Round 4

Hi everyone!
I am so excited...........I made it into the
I'm so absolutely honored that I am in this group of AMAZING, talented papercrafters.
I'm not sure what else to say except THANK YOU for believing in me and my work and
for taking your time to go vote for me!

This rounds challenge was to use HOUSEHOLD items!  Things found around the house—hmmmm.
Gosh, I had lots of ideas of household things but would they work?!  Well, I finally decided to use MATCHES.  I have my SIL to thank for this one!
She threw out lots of ideas but it wasn't until she said matches that an idea came to me!

AmyRound4blog1

So my idea was the sentiment but now I had to tie it all together.  I found this picture on Pinterest and adapted it for papercrafting.....I made my own embellishment!  I cut off the tips of the matches and glued them onto a heart diecut from Lil' Inker Designs.  Here are the how-to and inspiration photos.

From Pinterest  http://www.thecarrotbox.com/

From here, I diecut lots of clouds from the Rainbows and Clouds dies from Lil' Inker Designs.
I knew these would be the perfect clouds for this card as I wanted that little extra texture of the perforations Laura adds to her dies. I used Soft Stone and Shimmer cardstock from PTI for my clouds for the added color to the otherwise white card.

AmyRound4blog2

I paired my handmade embellishment with a computer generated sentiment along with a
mini match to tie the whole thing together.  I love how it turned out!

AmyRound4blog3

Ok friends......I hope you like my card enough to go VOTE for it HERE.
I'd love to have your support and wouldn't be in the Top 10 without each and every one of you!
You have until Thursday at 1pm CST to go vote!
Thank you sooo much!

I Promise........

I promise........this is the LAST time I will ask for your votes!  I made it to the next round of the Practical Scrappers Card Contest.  After the votes this week, the Practical Scrapper team decides who wins!  So, one last vote please to get me into the Top 3!!!  Vote HERE.

This week's challenge was:  Rainbows and Dry Embossing.

So I went with a panel of rainbow colors, sewed between each color, and then stamped with Damask Designs by PTI.  My dry embossing comes in with one cloud embossed using Swiss Dots EF and my score lines framing my rainbow panel.  My clouds dies and sentiment are from Lil' Inker Designs.  I LOVE LOVE these clouds!  Laura has made them so unique!  (and a wee hint.....we have some super holiday things coming soon!)  Again, THANK YOU so much for voting for me........it means the world to me!

Lil' Inker Rainbow Dies made that?

It's no secret, I LOVE dies.  Particularly ones that can be used for "other" things.  I'm here today to show off the Rainbow Dies from Lil' Inker Designs.  My daughter does not let me do her hair..........just a bow or barrette.  Nothing fancy.  But she's still all girl!  I do not want to say how many photos it took to get this one that I liked!

I wanted to make a flower for her hair out of the rainbow die and did using felt!!  Let's see how I did it.  I started with a small scalloped circle as a base for my flower.  After diecutting the small rainbow 4 times, I had my "petals" and began adhering them in the pattern I wanted using a hot glue gun.  Then again with another layer on top of that.

I was then ready to attach my button to the center.  I chose a Lemon Tart button from my stash and sewed it on using embroidery floss.

Next up is the leaves.  I die cut another rainbow ONE time using Simply Chartreuse felt.  Using all three parts of the rainbow, I staggered them together to make my "leaf" as shown below.

Then this leaf trio was tucked under the petal layer and glued using more hot glue.  Here is the finished flower.

The last step is to sew the flower on to the hair clip......I only had to use 2 stitches for this particular clip and it holds it well.

And one last shot of the flower in my daughter's hair.  Just so cute!  We went to my local farmer's market this past Saturday and she wore it there.  She had lots of compliments on it especially from some of the vendors that sold girls hair accessories!!!

Does this give you any ideas in using the Lil' Inker rainbow die?  I hope I've inspired you today to find new uses for some of your dies in your stash.  Besides, you may just come up with something pretty neat......at least in your kids' eyes!
