OTWC Challenge #26

I just loved all the fresh springy colors of this week's OTWC challenge.
To be honest, these colors are right up my alley!
Here is the inspiration photo and the color palette from what we
worked with this week!

I decided to take my inspiration from the balloon colors above and
use my Up, Up, and Away stamp set from PTI.
Lots of Copic coloring....not sure I'd want to do that much all the time but it was fun!

Well, I had to work "green" in there somewhere so I use my grass Die-namics to cut
some Simply Chartreuse felt.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Curtain Call Color Challenge: {ACT 49}

Today I am playing along with the Curtain Call Color Challenge: ACT {49}.
Here are the fabulous color scheme for this week.

I did have to substitute some "other" similar colors for the tan colors.
I kind of went back to my roots so to speak.  I went with a technique I learned when
I first started stamping:  Chalk popping.  (At least that's what I was taught it was called!)
The centers of my flowers look a bit green but I used some tan
shimmery chalk for the centers....I promise!

For this I also had to do a little masking and I really like how this turned out.
What do you think?  I so wanted to add some pearls or something but I am
leaving it "off" so to speak.  :)

Have a great day!

Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #21: Autumn Wishes

I made this card for my dad on his birthday last week and I'm finally getting to post it for
Her challenge was to keep it simple using something beautiful and warm
with the fall season as your inspiration.

I inked up Leaf Prints and used my Woodgrain IP for this one.
Pretty simple except that I used the rock 'n roll technique for those leaves....love this look!
I also want to mention that to "soften" the woodgrain and make it stand out, I
did sponge some Vintage cream ink all over the impressed woodgrain pattern.  I really like how it turned out!

I am also sending this card over to the CARDS blog for their hunt for cards with leaves!
Have a wonderful day!

Papertrey September Blog Hop Challenge!

It is Papertrey Blog Hop time again!  A favorite time of the month for me!

This month's challenge was to:
"show off skills that you might have learned from a fellow stamper".

I interpreted this challenge as CASE'ing a fellow stamper that showcased a
particular technique.  Well for me.......ever since I'd seen Maile Belles card using the
letter press technique where she also combined it with dry emboss masking, I wanted to try it!!

Here is my version!

If you follow Maile's directions.....you will come out with a beautiful impressed frame!
Thank you Maile for the wonderful inspiration!

Have a great day blog hopping!  Thanks for stopping by!

I used Spiral Bouquet for this one.......a favorite stamp set of mine!
This ended up being a fast and simple card and I LOVE it!

I used the current sketch from the Get Sketchy blog
They have some great sketches......go check them out.

Thanks for stopping by!  We'll see you in the morning for the PTI blog hop!!

Scallops, scallops, and more scallops!!

***This card made Fab 4 at Wee Memories!  Thanks Jenny and the Wee Memories DT!***

I decided to play along with Wee Memories challenge today which was
S.O.S. (scallops, orange, and string).  You needed to incorporate 2 of those 3 elements into your
card.  Well, I definitely have scallops and orange and just a "wee" bit of string!

I made this card after seeing a fun scallop tutorial over on the CARDS blog by Michelle Mathey.
I used some Chloe's Closet DP by Making Memories....love these papers.
They have such a soft, distressed look to them.

The challenge was to create a project/card using offset scallops in an innovative way!

Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a wonderful fall day!

Embellish Color Challenge using Paper Piecing!

Oh, I've forgotten how I love to paper piece!  Here are the colors of this challenge:

I LOVE this challenge because I used one of my favorite PI images by MFT!  This image is great
for paper piecing.  I still had some Origins DP from Basic Grey and knew it would be
perfect for this challenge!  I paper pieced her shirt, pants, and the tiny flower on her shirt!

This little cuties soo reminds me of my daughter!  Pigtails and all!
I will be giving this to her for her birthday.....yikes, just 1 month away!

I LOVE the Bracket Edge die from MFT.....it makes such pretty edges to your cards as
well as layers.

Did you notice my nice "box" around my Pure Innocence girl?
It's the new stamp set from PTI called Framed.  This is going to be a favorite I can tell right now!
With all of my new goodies I got in the mail from the last release, THIS was the image I used!

I would love to hear what you think of this!
You will be seeing more of these cute PI kiddos in the future!

them out before, you must!  Every week they host new sketches and they are always so fun!
This week's sketch is by Laura.  Why don't you check it out?
I used Laura's sketch but flipped it on it's side.  I also incorporated another challenge here as well.
This is for the Papertrey Paper Dolls challenge #20 hosted by Laurie.  Her
challenge was to make a project/card with a School Time theme.
I decided to make a Thank You "teacher" card.

I finally got to use my Impression Plate:  Book Print.  I thought it would be perfect for this card!
Oh yeah, I got to use some of that yummy baker's twine again too!  Gosh, I LOVE this stuff!

I'm back....finally! Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #22

So I'm finally back to blog land......feels good but it also felt good to take a break for awhile.  Anyone else ever feel like this?  My goodness everyone has been busy the past week as I had over 500 items in my Google Reader to go through!  Now, I didn't get to comment like I would have liked to but I did do my best!
I have been extremely busy this past week......work, on-call all night one night, set-up and marked for my garage sale, had garage sale all weekend, worked again this week, funeral today.  Whew....I hope it slows down just a little!  I always have my garage sale with my fantastic friend/neighbor, Michelle, and boy did we do good.  Like $1800 good.  We always say....location location and cheap prices is why we do good.

So, when it came time for me to host the Papertrey Paper Dolls weekly challenge this week,
I knew exactly what I wanted to do......CAS!

Here were the details of my challenge and my card for inspiration:
1.  CAS
2.  lots of white space
3.  use a pop of color

Here in Kansas, we've had some rainy days and not so much sun.....so I took my card outside for
my photo today.  My flowers still look as nice as when we planted them (you can see them in the background).  It's finally the weather where we can sit and enjoy them on our patio.

So what do you think?  I'd love to hear your comments!

Gone Western! (a little)

One of my fellow Paper Dolls team, Cecilia, had a Cowboy Week on her blog (Trade Fish Designs)
last week and she challenged us to join in and make a card along with her.
I dug out an oldie stamp set from TAC that I have never used but it is oh so cute!

I used **another** new MFT Die-namics here as it was
perfect for this card.....the star border!

This card is based off a fun sketch found at the Get Sketchy blog for this week.

Have a great week....I may be MIA this week as I am preparing for my annual

With Sympathy and Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #19

I don't know about you but I think Sympathy cards are one of the hardest cards to make along with masculine cards.  I had a friend this week contact me to make her a sympathy card.  She
said she would rather buy one that is HANDMADE than buy one from the store.
Once I asked her if it was for a female, then it became a bit easier!

I saw this card by Nerina and just had to stamp my flowers this way too!

This card was made for the Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge and was hosted by Michelle S.
Her challenge was:
1. Use a stamp/stamp set that is new
2.  A Product that is brand new and never used

So for my card, the "With Sympathy" stamp was new/never used and I used Soft Stone
cardstock for the base.  I can't believe I had never even opened this cardstock to see how subtle and beautiful is is.  I also used some new satin ribbon from Michael's too!

Paper:  Soft Stone, Smokey Shadow, Sweet Blush
Ink:  Charcoal Palette, Sweet Blush

Get Sketchy #53

****Edit:  This card made Top 5 at Get Sketchy****

I've been wanting to play with some of my clear cardstock so
when I saw this sketch challenge over at Get Sketchy, I thought I would give it a try.

This is the sketch from this week.

I used another new die from MFT here......one that wasn't released yet.
I'm guessing it will be next month!  Just in time for the holidays!
Can you guess what it is?
There is prisma glitter on the white circles behind the snowflakes but I couldn't capture it
with this photo very well.

Did you notice the stamp set?  Yep, I had this out making my card before the
PTI Senior Design Team projects this month!  Coincidence!
I bought Flower Garden and Flower Garden Sentiments from a fellow PTI forum friend a while
back when fellow Paper Doll,  Lee Anne, had showcased this set for a whole week.
Well, I just had to buy it!
