What I've been up to.....

This past weekend my friends and I went shopping in KC......Well, we had to stop and shop for buttons too!!  Thanks to Barb and Laurie for patiently waiting while Jen and I shopped!!!

Here are a couple of rings I've made this week using some of my new buttons!!

And this last ring is the ring that Laurie called a "rock" on her blog post here.  This has to be my favorite ring yet!!  I love how large and blingy it is!!

Have a great weekend!!
I hope to get "caught up" on some challenges this weekend and have some cards to show you next week!!

It all started with a post about a notebook!

I posted this notebook I made for a good friend of mine a while back and Dana put this comment on it:

"I've only had a chance to make these for other people too,
so how about this: I make one for YOU, and you make one for ME!
(because I really like this one and can see how cute it would look in my hand! *grin*)

So, this is how it started......we emailed our favorite colors and decided to do a notebook swap!!
During this time, I also found out that she liked button rings so I designed one just for her!
Well, it did take me a while to get this done and then the USPS took forever to get it there....so much so that I thought I either had put the wrong addy on it or it had gotten lost!
Finally, here are the pictures.......beware this is a long post with lots of pics!!

This notebook uses several PTI stamp sets including Take Note which is a MUST HAVE set when making one of these notebooks!  Also used here was Life and Turning a New Leaf.

Ok, so earlier I mentioned that I found out that Dana liked button rings!  Well, I have finally decided to go into making them!!  So, I designed one for her in her favorite colors as well!  This was the first time I've made one for someone that wasn't able to "try it on" before hand.  Dana says it fits just fine!

Here is the ring at side view of the wraps.

Ok, so I had to make a card to go with all this right?  Yeah, I had to!  I used the new Enjoy the Ride stamp set and matching die to make her this cute mini card.

Well, you didn't think I would show you what I made and not show you what Dana sent to me did you??  Here's the GORGEOUS notebook she sent me.......so totally me in every way!

I want to give out a HUGE thank you to my blog friend, Dana!!  Thanks so much for posting that comment.....I had a great time designing these things for you!
Go check out her blog....she makes amazing things!

More button rings!

I have had so much fun making more Button rings!  Here are 2 more rings I made since the PTI blog hop.  Here I've made a ring for me and a ring for my daughter!  Again, using Hawaiian Shores and True Black buttons.
This time I used shape buttons as the centers and added decorative swirls on the sides to "hide" the wire wraps.  Here are some other shots of the rings.  Enjoy!

I am now off to make some more button rings in other PTI color combos!
Enjoy!!

March 2010 PTI blog hop time!

Can you believe it's Blog Hop time again at Papertrey Ink?  This month's challenge was this:

"This month we're calling all button lovers! Now's your chance to explore the world of possibilities that
buttons hold! From borders to backgrounds, accents and embellishments, or even incorporating them
into stamp images like any of our Button Bits stamp sets. From paper projects to home decor to jewelry
and more, the sky's the limit! We want to see all your very best creations using buttons and the
inspiration we will gain from each other should prove to be truly enticing!"

Now, I created a few things with my new Hawaiian Shores buttons for this challenge!  First off is a card using the new Beautiful Blooms II dies with felt!!  I am sooo lovin' these dies!!!  The flowers are attached with Hibiscus Burst and Hawaiian Shores buttons.  This card also uses the new set:  Distressed Stripes.

Here is a close-up of the felt flowers......the black and pink felt are from Hobby Lobby and are on sale this week!  I only had to run the felt through my machine once and look how beautifully cut they are!

Now, I have a confession to make here.  My friend, Jen from JensInkSpot, and I were discussing what we were making for the Blog Hop and she mentioned her button rings she had made (I totally don't want to steal her thunder).  We both had bought a ring or two from a good friend and fellow stamper, Heather Scott last year at the annual TAC Seminar.  I instantly fell in love with these rings she was making (I think I bought 4 rings from her)!!  So, Jen told me of a Youtube video to watch and whalaaa.....a button ring!!!  Years ago, I used to make beaded bracelets so I dug out my tools, beads, etc. and went to work.  It really was soooo simple especially when you have such beautiful buttons from Papertrey Ink to work with!!  Now, remember this is my FIRST button ring.......it is by no means perfect but I am so happy with it!!

The color of buttons I chose to work with were Hibiscus Burst and the new Hawaiian Shores.  Isn't that Hibiscus Burst button just gorgeous!!  Well, I couldn't just stop there, now could I?  Please remember that in this next photo, I am a nurse and do have nurse hands and am by no means EVER going to be a hand model!!  So, I went ahead and made a matching bracelet!!

Well, that's it for my contribution to the March Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!!  Have a great time blog hopping and we'll see you next month!!
