Cutting Edge Challenge #11

It's time to share the next Cutting Edge Challenge!  We have another beautiful inspiration project, this one done by Melania Deasy.  I can’t wait for you all to play along, so let’s get to it, shall we?!

I loved the look Melania used down the left side of her card with the die and COLOR showing through.  I also liked the bold black focal point.

I went with a color combo that I love.....yellow, gray, and black.  I started by diecutting the Triangle Border and layering colored cardstock strips behind the border.  I diecut the speech bubble with black cardstock and white heat embossed the stamped sentiment from the Happy Bubble Set from Simon Says Stamp.

Thanks so very much

Cutting Edge Challenge #10

It's time to share the next Cutting Edge Challenge!  We have another beautiful inspiration project, this one done by Jean Manis.  I can’t wait for you all to play along, so let’s get to it, shall we?!

I was totally inspired by the grasses and neutral colors from Jean's card.  I went in a different direction but using the Wheat dies from Impression Obsession,  My card turned out more elegant than masculine than I intended but oh well, that's how it goes sometimes!

9.13.14

I dug deep into my cardstock stash of textured Bazzill for my wheat!!  I haven't used this cardstock in years.....and I have heaps and heaps of it!!  Anyone else??  My ovals were cut with the Stitched Mats: Ovals from Lil' Inker Designs and the sentiment and flag are from Simon Says Stamp, Striped Greetings.  My kraft layer was stamped using a new background stamp releasing soon from My Favorite Things!

There’s so much about this project to be inspired by, right?!  I was so smitten with her whole card that I made my own version except I changed out the florals/greenery and flipped the layout.  Thank you Kay for this amazing card to be inspired by!!  Here’s what I created:

8.16.14

The flower dies are MFT, the greenery is Memory Box, and the sentiment is from Verve's Kind Words stamp set.  This is such a fabulous sketch and one to use later!!

It's time to share the next Cutting Edge Challenge!  We have another beautiful inspiration project, this one done by Melania Deasy.  I can’t wait for you all to play along, so let’s get to it, shall we?!

Okay, here’s the gig!  Let yourself be inspired by Melania's card, and create a card that includes die cutting (all forms accepted).  There’s so much about this project to be inspired by, right?!  Here’s what I created:

7.26.14#2

I was inspired by Melania's card in several ways:  the colors, the layout, and the tiny gray dots.  I rotated my card and added a Stitched Mats: Rectangles layer over some gray polka dot paper.  I die cut the Smile word die with several colored layers, glued them together, and mounted on my card.  I diecut several butterflies from the Stitched Butterfly Die Set and scattered them on my card.  The last detail was to add those fun gray dots with my T4 Copic!!!

Cutting Edge Challenge #3

It's time to share the next Cutting Edge Challenge!  We have another beautiful inspiration project, this one done by Lisa Addesa.  I can’t wait for you all to play along, so let’s get to it, shall we?!

Okay, here’s the gig!  Let yourself be inspired by Lisa's card, and create a card that includes die cutting (all forms accepted).  There’s so much about this project to be inspired by, right?!  Here’s what I created:

Lil' Inker Designs thanks word die

I was inspired by Lisa's banner down the left side with the diecut hearts and the bright colors.  I translated those things into my card.  I used the new Thanks Word Die from Lil' Inker Designs to diecut my own banner and was added to my striped background of cardstock with foam adhesive.  Other than my diecutting, the card is pretty CAS with a few added enamel dots!

Thanks Word Die

Here we go........CEC #1!

The day has finally come for our very first Cutting Edge Challenge – to say that I am EXCITED is an understatement!!!  I can’t wait for you all to play along, so let’s get to it, shall we?!

Okay, here’s the gig!  We were to be inspired by this AH-MAZING project created by Jackie Rockwell in some way, and include die-cutting (any and all forms accepted) in our design!  There’s so much about this project to be inspired by, right?!  Here’s what I created:

6.28.14

My inspiration:  You Rock sentiment and color scheme

I have to say that when I saw Jackie's inspiration card for the first challenge, I knew exactly which die in my "stash" I would use.  I decided to use this LARGE Die-Versions--"You Rock".  When I purchased this die (and a few others some time ago), I was so excited but when it arrived I was disappointed because it was HUGE.  I guess I should read the dimensions next time!

I decided to stamp a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor paper with Seeing Stars stamps from Simon Says Stamp with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink.  Next, I randomly spritzed my star panel with water and allowed it to bleed and run a bit.  I allowed it to dry but I sped it up by using my heat tool.  After diecutting my sentiment, I layered my negative and the sentiment over the top of my base card offsetting the sentiment just to the right.  A few 4mm Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins were added for some bling!

We’d love to have you play along with us! If you click on through to The Cutting Edge Challenge Blog, you’ll find lots of information, including:
  • The two winners of the $25 Avery Elle gift certificates are being announced;
