Retro Sketches meets Play Date Cafe

Hi everyone!  The weekend sure flew fast.......had some warmer weather which was wonderful!  At softball practice yesterday, my daughter could actually wear shorts and short sleeves!!!  That's a first!!!

Today I have a card I whipped up using the sketch from Retro Sketches and the color story from The Play Date Cafe this week!  I haven't played with either of these challenges in a long time.  Using Verve's Bloom & Grow set, I stamped the blooms in the brightest pink and yellow I had and then die cut them using the coordinating dies HERE and HERE

The stripes on the side is a strip of Washi......thought I'd better stop hoarding and use some!

PDCC and Lil' Inker Designs!

Today I'm here with a card using the cute cute Ccoa Bear image from Lil' Inker Designs and 2 cute ink!  This uses the beautiful holiday challenge over at The Play Date Cafe and it's sponsored by none other than Lil' Inker Designs!  Here is the color story from PDCC..........

Last time you saw this image, Cocoa Bear was totally colored in with Copics.   This time I've combined Copics with paper piecing!  I've forgotten how much I love to do this!  Using the fabulous papers from the Season's Greetings collection by Echo Park, they were the PERFECT match for this color story!

The side border is the Wonky Scallop Border by MFT.  The die cut that Cocoa Bear is sitting on is actually the Mat Stack 3 die cut once and then place back in the die the other way to "cut off" the circular top.  Makes a fun ticket type shape!  Cocoa Bear is also sitting on a grey stamped shadow stamp from the set Warm Happiness by PTI to "ground" him.

I think my favorite parts of this card are the sentiment and that I popped up Cocoa Bear's head for dimension!  I used a sentiment from the Cocoa Bear set but didn't want the whole thing so I just stamped and cut out the words at whatever angles looked good.  Well, I'm off now to do some more wrapping and hopefully some baking for the holiday.  One more day off before I have to work Christmas Eve.  Thanks for stopping by!

{just for you!}
Stamps:  Cocoa Bear (Lil' Inker Designs), Warm Happiness (PTI)

Dies:  Wonky Scallop Border (MFT), Mat Stack 3 (PTI)
Misc:  Janome Sew Mini, Ripe Avocado Button (PTI), Silk Ribbon (PTI), Foam Tape, Copics, Signo Uniball White Pen

Wee Memories Challenge #64

Well, I've been MIA since the big kickoff Blog Hop for the new Lil' Inker DT on Monday.  There is still time left to get your comments in.....check out the post HERE.  I have been enjoying the last week of summer vacation with my kids.......we've had lots of fun in the sun and some relaxation time too!  We had such a great time with friends at Schlitterbahn but came home a little sunburned.  So thankful that after the heat wave the MidWest has had that the weather cooperated for our swimming this week.  (it's now been MUCH cooler and dare do I say chilly?)  Yesterday it rained several times and I can start to see some green showing back up in our grass!

Alright, enough about the weather........you are here for the latest Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge right?  Well, today happens to be the first challenge of the month and we kick that off with a Blog Hop at Wee Memories!  You should have arrived here by the way of THE Jenny Suchin.....the first stop of the Blog Hop.

Today's challenge is sponsored by Graphic 45.  The challenge winner will receive a prize
package from them!

The challenge today is to create a MASCULINE project.  I chose to work with several stamp sets from PTI:  Grunge Me, BB: Simple Circles, and BB: Rock On.  Pair these with the coordinating dies for the sets........a perfect combination.  Love coordinating products!

The Simple Circles Border Die is so versatile.  I only wanted to use 5 of the circles here so I diecut a strip and then laid my die strip back into the die rotating it as I've done in the photo below.  Makes a perfect shorter circle die cut strip!  (I know I could have just cut the circle myself but I love the clean cut edge of the die.)

My card was made using the sketch over at CAS-ual Fridays for their challenge CFC15 and using the colors over at The Play Date Cafe for their challenge PDCC94.

I hope you will join us for the Wee Memories challenge this week................The next stop on the Blog Hop is AnitaHave a great Saturday!!

A slice of summertime.....

I know I said it in my last post but friends it's HOT HOT HOT!!!  Again over 100 degrees here yesterday and so I got to spend some more time crafting!  My card today features the newest stamp set from Wilson Designs:  Strawberry Lemonade.  I made one very similiar for the stamp release however I still had another embossed lemon border on my desk and thought it was perfect to go with the challenge over at the Play Date Cafe this week.  Take a looksie at this inspiration photo!

My inspiration came from the photo directly center............I think a cold glass of lemonade is one of the best things about summer.  Now for my card.........I had this idea since receiving this set to design with to add a little lemon slice to the side of my glass......sooo fun!

I also made this for the challenge over at Wee Memories..........anything SUMMERTIME.  There is still time to check out this challenge!!!

I'm off this evening to my son's last regular season baseball game.  Kinda sad but never fear......we are going to the Single A World Series this weekend in Liberty, Missouri!!!  Go Bulldogs!  This picture was taken early on in the season where we actually HAD to wear sweatshirts!  My little guy is the second one from the right (he's standing next to the boy without a hat).  They have improved soo much this season and I can't wait to see what next season has in store for them!!

GO BULLDOGS!!!

PDCC80 & CPS217

As soon as I saw the colors for this week's Play Date Cafe challenge, I knew I wanted to play along.  However, time isn't on my side lately and I'm almost late to the party on this challenge.  I also combined it with the CPS sketch for this week as well (I did take the liberty to "adjust" it a bit!).  Paper Smooches is the sponsor of both......great idea to use my Friendly Flowers stamp set!!  The colors on this card just make me want to sing that song....feeling "Hot Hot Hot", drink a margarita, and be back on a cruise!  (it's been so hot here in Kansas the past few days....makes me long for a beach!)

I colored my sentiment and my flowers using Copics.  I kinda like the flowers not "all" colored in.....Yes, I meant to not color them in.  :)  Have a wonderful day!

PDCC62

I have a quick card made for the Play Date Cafe this week!
I love this time of year.....all the pinks, reds, whites.
They are some of my favorite colors!

I thought using PTI's Dotty Biscotti paper was perfect for this
challenge.

I tried my hand at making a felt flower from the medium scallop die from PTI.
This was fun and I will certainly make more of these!  Pair it up with
some of those larger buttons you get and have fun mixing and matching!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a great first week of 2011!!
