October PTI Blog Hop!

Going to keep this short as I'm not feeling well today but I wanted to share the card I made last night for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!  I was up pretty late so I took my photo today for better lighting.  Here is this month's inspiration photo.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do as soon as this photo was posted on release night.

The idea I had was to create panels of different patterns just like the pumpkins.  I immediately saw woodgrain and polka dots.   Then I looked at the white pumpkin and thought Embellishments!   (I love this stamp set)  And simply because I love those pumpkins in the photo, I created one of my own using my oval nesties.  I have been seeing a lot of pumpkins done like this lately.......Suzanne made a great card HERE with one of these pumpkins.

Thanks for stopping by and have fun on the PTI Blog Hop!!

New goodies!

Well, here I am with a card using my new goodies from PTI.......I did promise a card today didn't I?  We've been having some computer connection issues so this was the first chance to upload my pictures!

I had to bust out my Just the Ticket stamp set from PTI along with their AWESOME ticket die to match!  I mean PTI has thought of everything!  Brilliant....I tell ya!

I also paired this set up with another new die from this past PTI release.....the Spiral Notebook Page die!   I see myself using this all the time!  The colors here are Smokey Shadow and the new color Harvest Gold.  It is such a nice shade of yellow.....I really think it will now be my new favorite PTI yellow!

Well, I have a day off work tomorrow and hope to get caught up on the Papertrey Paper Doll challenges I am behind on!  I haven't missed one yet and I don't intend to!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog because I know how precious your time is and especially
to leave comments!  I love to read what you think!

Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #2

So, here we have another great sketch for this week's Paper Doll Challenge!  This week it was hosted by Meg and you can find her sketch over at the Paper Doll blog.  Why don't you try out this weeks sketch and play along with us?  My card uses a lot of kraft cardstock and pink!!

Holy moly, did I use a lot of background stamps on this card?!!!  5 total background sets!!  It was fun inking them up to make the panels for this challenge!  I also dug out my neglected Cupcake Collection set.

Nothing too fancy about this card........just a lot of stamping!  Here is a close-up pic of the layers on that cupcake!!

Here is the sketch my card was based off of this week.  We welcome ANYONE to come play with our challenges....you just never know what it will be!!

Don't you think that bow is just wonderful?  I am getting much better after watching Dawn's bow tying video! You've got to check it out if you are having trouble tying bows!!

ShoeBox Projects

As promised, here are the ShoeBox projects that we completed while at Stampin' Away!
First up, is the card I designed as my project.  The inspiration for the colors for this card, admittedly came from a SU flyer.  But the goodness on the card is ALL PTI!!  I think I am in love with these Button Bits stamp sets!  This flower image just sold me on this set and you don't even have to use buttons for it to be useful!  Really, nothing fancy here on my card but I really like how it turned out especially with that large sentiment!

Next up, is the card designed by Jen Carter.  This card uses PTI goodies as well starring Green Thumb.  I don't personally own this set so it was so much fun to stamp with it!  I used her set to make another card that will be posted at a later date.

Next, is a card designed by Barb Foster.  Her card uses a very popular TAC set called Victorian Elements and the rock 'n roll technique.  Very fun and I love the results!!

Next up, is a card designed by Laurie Willison.  Her card uses a stamp set from TAC as well called Wonder and Joy.  And if you like to color, this is a set for you!  I got in on using OMS and Prismacolor pencils for coloring this one!  I stamped off some other images from this set (thanks Barb) so that I can practice some more coloring!

Lastly, is a card designed by Brenda Hauff.  This card uses a stamp set from TAC too!  This set is called Dear Friend.  Here I used a different coloring medium:  Copics!!  I need lots more practice but it turned out so pretty!

No buttons???

Yep, here I've used my favorite new PTI stamp set.......Everyday Button Bits!! I needed to make a quick, easy card that was "mailable" and wanted to use this set again. So, instead of using buttons here on this card, I punched out 2-3/4" circles and 1-1" circle for the "tree tops". I love how this turned out! What about those yummy Dark Chocolate polka dots? This color is much darker than Burnt Umber and gives better coverage. Also used on this card was the new Vintage Labels stamp set......those double lines around the trees. This set coordinates wonderfully with the Spellbinders Labels I dies. But you don't have to use it with them.....just simply stamp them on your paper and whalaaa.....you have an instant cool border! This was my first try lining up the stamp with the die and I think it turned out pretty good.

Here is a close up of the trees. I popped the middle tree up as well as the embossed Label die. It's really hard with my less than wonderful photo taking skills to see but the smaller tree tops are stamped with Polka Dot Basics 2 in Ocean Tides ink. I think this ink is way too light and hope that this is one of the colors PTI chooses to reformulate soon. PTI has already chosen to reformulate some of their inks and from what I hear, the coverage is much better. However, this color does match and that is what the grass is stamped with as well.

PTI's Everyday Button Bits stamp set also includes 17 sentiments!!! I see myself using this set over and over again!! Everything you need in one stamp set!!

Happy Anniversary!!

Well today was my in-laws 51st wedding anniversary! Last year was the BIG one and they took the whole family on a 7-day Royal Carribean cruise over spring break last year. Anyway, this is the card I made for them this year. It uses PTI products........go figure!! I started with Scarlet Jewel cardstock layered with Lemon Tart. This layer was stamped using the latest polka dot set from PTI....Polka Dot Basics II. Then by stamping the largest flourish over the polka dots. I love the look!! What about those hearts? I dug out Heart Prints and simply punched them out with my heart punch! Did you notice one new thing I used on this card? Hint: in general, it's one of my favorite tools lately. Yep, you guessed it....... a border punch.......specifically......the Upper Crest Fiskars border punch! I finally got my hands on one and boy do I like it! It adds just enough elegance. The sentiment came from Heart Prints too.

Here is a close up and it just shows how I stamped the inside of their card.......with a row of the smaller hearts that are included in Heart Prints too. Had to add some bling to the main heart with rhinestones that PTI is now carrying. I finally broke down and used some dotted Lemon Tart ribbon here too but just a snippet. I have been hoarding that stuff for a while now.
So, what do you think? I would love to read your comments.
