Happy Birthday Sue Ann!

Hello everyone!  I have made it home safe and sound from Boston but I have tons to get caught up on here on the blog.  I had a great time and will share some pictures of a get-together I had with some blog friends while I was in Boston.  So stay tuned for that! 

I am here with today's post for a very special lady.....I mean special.  It is her birthday and some of my friends (Laurie and Jen) and I are doing a mini birthday blog hop for her today!  (I am a bit late.....but that's just how I roll these days!)  SUE ANN.........I don't even know where to start.  You have become such a special blog friend to me.  You always and I mean always leave such heartfelt comments on my blog and they never cease to amaze me at bringing a smile to my face.  Whether it's the comment on my card or the added little bit about your life......I LOVE them!  Do you know how much I enjoyed your little birthday package you sent me?  Oh my....it came at such a great time.  And that adorable happy birthday video?  Well girly, I don't sing (except when it's just me) but I will leave you with this: 

Happy Happy Birthday today is your special day......Happy Happy Birthday that's what I'm here to say!  (my coworker used to sing this to everyone on their birthday and let's just say that it goes on and on and she always danced to it too.  So imagine me singing this to myself to you today my friend.)  :)

I thought it would be fun to use some of those rolled roses for your card.  I recently bought the MFT mini rolled roses die.  Oh my.  LOVE!  Now I can make 3 sizes of these felt roses.  hehe 

Sue Ann, I can't say enough about how sweet you truly are.  I just hope that one day I will be able to meet you in person and give you a big hug!  Happy happy birthday my sweet friend!  I hope you have a wonderful day and drink a 'rita for me!

March Papertrey Blog Hop & CR84FN20

Hey everyone!  We have been amongst Spring Break here and I have had NO mojo lately.......I mean none.  I still have most of last month's PTI release and now this month's release still to put away but I did break out one of the newest sets that I just LOVE.....Sending You to use for the PTI blog hop!

I have some fun things planned for the next two weeks and one is this weekend!  I get the opportunity to travel for work and meet some of my blog friends in Boston......Suzanne from the Card Yard, Christina from Sea Glass and Sentiments, and Jessica from The Paper Parade!  We are planning on meeting for dinner and I couldn't be more excited!  See you tomorrow!

I used one of my favorite.....did I say favorite? color combinations!!!  It just so happens to be the color palette for CR84FN this week!  This month's blog hop theme was to use embroidery floss in a unique way.  Here I used it and made french knots for the centers of my flowers and then did some stitching as a border!

My friend Jen will laugh when she sees this card........we've been talking about this embossing folder this week and yes I have to admit that am a bit absent-minded.  Jen, I bought this embossing folder set a few weeks ago and wondered why it was familiar when you showed it to me!  I had already bought it!  That's what I'm saying that I have had no mojo........I hadn't even remembered I'd bought it because it's piled with all my things to put away!  Oh my.  I sure hope this happens to someone else!!

It's been 2 weeks since posting for Off The Wall Craftiness challenge.  Did it seem strange to you?  The bi-weekly challenges, I mean?  I think it gives more people the opportunity to play along!  Well, this week is sponsored by Wilson Designs and the DT got busy and used the latest stamp set in the WD lineup:  Gnomebody Like You.  Take a look at the inspiration photo below!

I decided to again use the gnomes for a CAS card.  It is so fun to create little scenes with this set!!!  It is also so much fun to paper piece these little gnomes!  Here I used some Green Tea Leaves DP from PTI. 

 

I thought the card was just missing something and I figured, "hey, I can draw some stems for flowers."  Then I used the tiny little flower from the set to top them off.  What do you think?

Tuesday Trigger and Wee Memories

Today's card incorporated the Tuesday Trigger photo from Moxie Fab World.  I was inspired to use my Button Boutique stamp set from last month's Papertrey release.  I really really like this set and it can be used for soo many occasions!  Then I incorporated a little SPRING in there for the challenge over at
Wee Memories this week.  This daffodil image is one of my favorite stamp sets from the YOF series.

I recently bought the Gertie papers from My Mind's Eye.  I love these and had fun layering up some of their goodness here.  So, I'm not enabling here or anything but have you checked out these papers yet??  You won't want to put them down.

This card just came together and I couldn't be happier with it!  I love that large daffodil layered over the button card.  I can't wait for spring here......I think we are going to get a good taste of it starting tomorrow with 70 degree weather!  (this is after we got several inches of snow on Monday morning!)  I love living in Kansas!  :)

I also am a member of the Papertrey Paper Dolls blog group over on the PTI forum and one of the open challenges that I had yet to play along with was Laurie's challenge:  1) use a YOF set, 2) designer paper,

3) use at least 3 colors.  This card fits perfectly for her challenge!  Thanks Laurie for the great challenge!

Wilson Designs: Release Day!

Welcome back!  The time is finally here to show you the newest stamp set in the Wilson Designs lineup!  So without any more hestitation let's introduce to you:

Gnomebody Like You

Remember when I stated that this new set would be fun, whimsical, and trendy?  Just look at those Gnomes!  I had fun using this set and I love the font! 

This little number uses paper-piecing and some fun sponging!  That little grass stamp is just perfect for adding the right amount of "grounding" to an image.  ***I totally forgot to mention that this card was made for the Paper Piecing Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  You still have time to get a card linked up!

My next card uses the adorable polka dot mushrooms and a randomly stamped background using the 2 flower images from this set.

I really like this layout and if I have to say, this is a CASE of a card by Lisa Johnson but I added a few more layered buttons tucked here and there.  I just love how those buttons look!  That banner is the Double Ended Banner Die from PTI.......yes it's shorter.  You just diecut a banner out and then place that banner back in the die and run it through your die cut machine at the length you want!  I've tried to cut my own but why? when you can do this and it looks so clean and perfect.

Papertrey Paper Dolls Blog Hop

Welcome to the Papertrey Paper Dolls Blog Hop!!  We've been preparing for this day for some time and now it's here!  I have been a part of this blogging group for over a year now and we found each other over on the PTI forum when a call went out to start a new group.....These are a great bunch of supportive girls!  You should have visited me from Leish's blog but don't fret!  There is a list of hop participants at the end of this post!  Have fun hopping!  :)

First up, a little about me!  My name is Amy and I live in the capitol city of Topeka, Kansas.  Go State!  I am a late thirty-something wife and mother of 2 perfect kids!  :)  My son is 9 and LOVES baseball and my daughter is 5 and getting so excited to go to kindergarten round-up in a few weeks!  Where have my little ones gone?  I have been an RN for 15 years and the last 5 as a full time nephrology charge nurse in a large dialysis unit.  My days usually start at 5am and (hopefully) get off at 3:30.  You other nurses know that doesn't always happen!  Now for some PTI trivia about me:

Wilson Designs: Release Day 1

Alright friends......Here we go!  Today I get to show you some samples using the newest addition to the
Wilson Designs line-up!  It is fun, whimsical, and trendy!  It's been fun reading some of your guesses as to what all would be in this set.......Were any of you right?  Well.......:)

Let's get started..........

My first card uses the cutest little deer (of which there are 2 in this set) and a sentiment from the set.  What's fun about Kim's sentiments in this set are that they are using an open alphabet font so you can just stamp them or go ahead and color them in!

I decided to leave my sentiment open and just add touches of red to the hearts.  I think it made some neat pattern paper!  Just so happens that the challenge for this week over at Wee Memories is "Woodland Friends" so this will be linked up over there!

My next card uses some flowers from the set paired with several other Wilson Designs stamps from various sets.  Isn't there something to be said about the color combo grey and pink?  Um....yeah....I love it!  I wanted to show that you can "mix-it-up" using several stamp sets.  You get so much more use out of your stamps if you use them this way!

I stamped the larger flower in each scallop using Charcoal ink and added a pearl center....I really like how it dressed up that scallop strip!  Then for my little cluster of flowers, these were simply stamped, cut out, and arranged cluster style.  What a fun Thank You card!
