Hero Arts / My Monthly Hero September Blog Hop

Sunflower MMH

Hello and Welcome!  I am so excited to be a part of the My Monthly Hero Blog Hop again this month!  Hero Arts has always been a favorite company of mine since I began stamping so to create again with one of the My Monthly Hero Kits was such an honor!

This month's kit has some amazing fall themed sets and dies, including a Sunflower and Pumpkin set!  Being from Kansas, this set is my favorite from the kit!  The kit is available for a limited time only - once it's gone, it's gone. Kits begin shipping from Hero Arts on Friday June 9. You can now subscribe to receive the kit monthly and never miss one!  The kit value is over $70......but only costs $34.99.  Once this kit is gone, it's gone!

There is SO much to offer this month, I could only just scratch the surface with this kit and the add-ons!  But I am starting out with the stamp set that makes up the core kit, the sunflowers and pumpkins!

I started by stamping the Vine Pattern Bold Prints Stamp in a kraft color of ink onto a kraft card panel for a tone on tone look (Versamark would have done something similar but not as dark).  I cut a standard 3" circle from the center and adhered to a white top folding notecard.  Next, I stamped all the layers of the sunflowers/stalks and die cut using the coordinating dies.  To the centers of the sunflowers, I actually stamped them a second time with the last step using Versamark and clear heat embossing to make the centers appear darker!  After curving my sentiments just right on my acrylic block, I stamped them rounding the circle in black ink.  A twine bow and a few yellow sequins finish this off!

My second card went a different direction than when I started but I love the result.  I had planned on doing a white on white panel using these AMAZING Autumn Icons Fancy Dies for a faux embossing technique but I just thought they needed color after arranging them on the panel.  So out came my Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint, and Gathered Twigs.  I smooshed these colors on an acrylic sheet and spritzed them with water.  Then I simply picked up the leaves and dipped them in the various colors.  I did not use watercolor paper as this technique was an after thought.  The subtle fall colors were just what I was going for!  I laid them all aside to dry completely.  Once dry, I used spray adhesive to adhere them to my white panel.  A simple white heat embossed sentiment from Color Layering Thanksgiving stamp set was added to a strip of kraft cardstock and adhered.  Simple!
